Looks like corporation wants me to go to a war zone this time. I've never done this before and I am a little shaky on what to bring on my ventures, but I think I have compiled an efficient list of items for my travels. Physical and mental health are taken into consideration as well as my safety when creating this list as well as communication all around; including within the tribes and back to America.
Before stumbling into these native tribe I must do some extensive research on the tribes culture. Learning about their beliefs and rituals is key in order to understand them. I do not want to insult them in any way, because that could be potentially harmful my survivability. Knowing why they attacked another tribe would be useful knowledge as well, since I will be able to begin to understand the tribe's reasons for attacking.
The List:
A Gun-
One cannot be too safe in a war zone, so I have decided to bring a pistol in case of an emergency. In the best case scenario I wont need it.
Bullet Proof Vest-
Again, for my own safety.
Crummy Clothes-
These clothes will be of low quality since it could get messy in Africa, plus the natives might frown upon luxurious clothing.
A Photo-
Just a mental boost from a picture of my loved ones. It might not be much, but it will keep me sane for the few days that I am in Africa.
iPhone-
I am not too sure if a cell phone can connect to the internet in Africa (may cost a premium), but I will use email and twitter to help capture my story efficiently.
A translator-
Even though their are many many languages spoken in Africa, a hand-held translator will be useful since it will be programmed to speak widely accepted languages in Africa in order to pay for the services of a human translator that o the is native to the area.
Once Arriving
I believe my first story will accumulate as I obtain interviews from a large amount of the tribes people. My story will focus on the beliefs and interpretations that the tribe has on war and other subjects.
The Grave is Found
I would not panic or begin to get a biased opinion on the tribes people. I would write a story about it only displaying the facts that were allotted to me with no interpretations of my own. Although I may believe the killings were unnecessary, I wont write about that.
